I’m skipping ahead a bit in our story, but this week is transfer week! It feels surreal, and I don’t think it has hit any of us yet, but in a few days we will be back in Jacksonville for our frozen embryo transfer. It’s a funny feeling, knowing we are just a few days away from being “pregnant until proven otherwise,” and despite all these months of preparations, I still don’t feel prepared. We haven’t done anything special, outside of our medication regimen, to prepare for this. We don’t have a nursery planned for baby, we didn’t go on one last date, or have one last drink, we haven’t even figured out when the baby will be due. Life has been pretty average. I feel kind of like a bride who ran out of time to do all the DIYs for the wedding, and now I’m panicking about what might have fallen through the cracks.
But really, I know that there isn’t anything for us to do in the days leading up to transfer, other than rest, pray, and enjoy our last days as a family of four. We know the statistics and the chances and the risks, but we have chosen to be positive and faithful that God has written this chapter in our story to be a happy one.
I’m curious to hear how other folks prepared for their transfers, fresh and/or frozen. Let me know in the comments if you have any advice, whether it’s something you did, or instructions from your medical team.
I’m going to continue writing and posting our story leading up to today, but we haven’t decided when or how we want to share the results of our first IVF cycle. We’re hopeful it will be successful, and that we’ll be so overjoyed we won’t be able to resist shouting it from the mountain tops as soon as we find out. But, should it not be, I made a promise to myself when I started this blog, that I would be honest and vulnerable, not just sharing the good, but the bad and the ugly as well. So, as Bryan always tells me when I want to plan for every outrageous scenario, we’ll cross that bridge if we get there.
For everyone who has been praying for us, and sending positivity our way, we love you, we appreciate you, and we hope you’ll continue sending those prayers up for us!
P.S. Thanks a million to my Momma, for collecting all the cute baby things and all the positivity, and my Daddy, for growing the cutest pineapples in the world and, in turn, making my uterus sticky. I’m 100% positive that The Little Embryo That Could will appreciate your efforts!
